TERROR QUAKE 2Beta 3 Updated 5. March 1999 THE TEAM Lantz - models/skins/anim Trond Abusdal - code/anim The Dark Lord - answer-mail-guy/PR guy/forum surfer/beta tester Igor[ROCK] - mapper/Linux converter Mexican Radio - mapper SGT ROck! - skinner/VWEP anim/ CLIFFE - html designer/web art INSTALLATION Double click on the "terror.exe" file and type in your Quake2 folder (i.e "c:\quake2") Start the game by adding these parameters after the Quake 2 execution command: "+set game terror" ("c:\quake2\quake2.exe +set game terror"). WHAT IS TERROR QUAKE Terror Quake has it`s base inspiration from Action Quake 2, the mother of all realistic mods. It is a mod where we focus on realism, and you will find no such stuff as laser guns or plasma rifles. (NOTE: many ppl seem to think that we have used AQ2`s source as a base, that is NOT a fact. We started this mod from the scratch.) FEATURES Here is a list of features in Terror Quake 2: * More real-life like falling damage * Pain skins * Locational Damage * Manual reloading * Weight system (you can`t carry one shotgun, three AK`s and two Barrett sniper rifles, think before you pick up stuff ) * Remember this from other mods: you have a weapon, you have a full weapon, you drop it. Your friend wants it and picks it up. But, the gun is EMPTY!!!! OK. Remember this: you have an empty gun. You die. You go to your die spot and picks up the gun that was empty when you died, but, now it`s FULL!!!! OK. Remember this in the future: Terror Quake 2 has this neat little feature: you carry your nasty shotgun, you have 5 rounds left, you drop it, your friend picks it up, and VOILA, it has 5 rounds!!!! OK. Remember this in the future too: you carry around your empty shotgun, you die, you go over to the spot where you died, you pick up the shotgun, and VOILA, it`s still EMPTY!!! WHOW!!! Terror Quake 2 simply remembers how many rounds are in each gun, either if it`s in your hands or on the ground. * Bleeding * Limp if you get shot in the legs or drop down from high places * Realistic damage from guns (I think it`s pretty realistic) * Team Play (Get The Drugs) * I fixed the aim, everybody seemed to complain about the accuracy of the guns. As it used to be, you were less accurate if you were hurt. Now it works like this: Ducking pos: best aim. Standing pos: normal aim. Moving: worst aim. If you are bleeding as well, the accuracy gets worse, so if wanna get your aim up, bandage :^) Hope this helps. * Duck to pick up items (this is a feature :^)) WEAPONS Here is a list of weapons in TQ2: * Mariner Shotgun * UZI * AK 47 * Bush Knife * Glock (very accurate if the laser sight is turned on) * 1911 * Barrett 50 cal sniper rifle (since this is so heavy, you need to sit down for it to be 100% accurate) * Fragmentation grenade * C4 Detpacks (requires detonator to set off) * Mine (if you see a mine in your path, throw a handgrenade at it, then it`ll blow) ITEMS Here is a list of items in TQ2: * Bullet Proof Vest * Helmet * IR Goggles * Head Light * Detonator (to set off your C4 Detpacks) * Scuba Gear * MedKit (gives you health) COMMANDS Here is a list of commands to use in TQ2 (X is the button you want to attach the command to. Y is the ammotype you wanna drop is X is pressed): * bind x weapon (zooms the rifle/turns the lasersight on or off using the glock/set grenade distance) * bind x weapondrop (drops your current weapon) * bind x itemdrop (drops the special item you are carrying) * bind x reload (reloads the current gun) * bind x opendoor (opens doors) * bind x item (uses the current item if it is usable) * bind x bandage (bandages your wounds so you stop bleeding) * bind x drop y (drops the kind of ammo that y represents... i.e. "drop x uziclip" gets rid of one uziclip and gives you 2 weight points) SERVER SIDE OPTIONS Here is a list of commands used by server ops in TQ2: * bullethole 1 or 0 (decides if the server should run bullet holes or not, it`s a great eye candy, but it lags servers on the net, so it`s really only for LAN :^)) * blood 1 or 0 (decides if the server should run blood splats or not, it lags net servers, so it`s really just for LAN games * ctf 1 or 0 (decides if servers run Team Play mode or not) KNOWN BUGS Here is a list of bugs I know of in TQ2 beta 3: * The game crashes sometimes, I`m not sure why, but it seems to happen when someone gets killed. Please gimme reports if this happens, with info like: -Were you bleeding? -What weapon were you killed with? -What weapon did you carry? -Did you bandage/bleed? -If you were a server: please send me the error msg you got, a screenshot would be the best :^) SPECIAL THANKS TO * Gooseman for letting us use his models as a base for ours * HitMan Daz for letting us use his great SAS player model * Defcon-X, Major Bitch, Cryect and Adolf Worm (his new name is something like RR2DR0 or something:^)) who helped me out when I needed it the most in the code. * Thanks to Quake 2 mission pack by Rogue for IR Goggles code. * Adam for getting us some kick-ass sounds! UPDATES * 5/3 - Added possibility to pick up more than one special item: you are allowed to carry one "head item", one "torso item" and one "feet item." Get the vest and the helmet, and you`re a walking fortress :^) * 5/3 - Locational damage on shotgun. Is no longer superior against vest/helmet * 5/3 - Replaced the muzzleflashes with some better ones, made the flaslight look better. * 5/3 - If you have the vest or are ducked, you take half damage from grenades and C4 Detpacks. Not mines, of natural causes :^) * 5/3 - You can now attach C4 Detpacks to moving platforms, doors etc. It`s still a little buggy, but way better than it used to be. * The crash bug is still alive... :^( If I have forgotten anyone in here, please let me know and I`ll put you in.
